I gave the second dosage to my cat and week later i can see moving worms in his feces again. I know for sure it is not a tape worm cause tapeworm segment doesn't move and this one does! What to do now?

Thank you for contacting Propet. After giving the first dosage you have to wait 2 weeks and then administer the second dosage. After that you should no longer see the roundworms. It is currently normal for your pet to expell them right now. Also, make sure they are roundworms which are long and spaghetti like worms. If they are short and segmented looking like a piece of rice then those are tapeworms and this product will not work on them.

Thank you for your inquiry to Pro Pet. This product is NOT intended to be given to pets (kittens) under 2 lbs. of body weight. We would recommend that you contact your vet for an appropriate wormer for your kitten. If we can help with anything further, feel free to contact us.

Thank you for contacting Pro Pet. When using our liquid wormer you need to adminsiter two doses. The first dose will kill the adult worms and then eggs hatch in 10 days so you need to repeat this process based on the weight of your kitten. If your cats are sharing a common litter box, it would also be recommend to worm your adult cat as well. If we can help with anything further, feel free to contact us.

Dear Jeremy:

Thank you for contacting Pro Pet. There is nothing in our formula that would cause this behavior. Is your kitten eating and drinking and has he had any vomiting or diarrhea? If not, there maybe something else going on with him so we would recommend that you contact your vet. If we can help with anything further feel free to contact us.

Thank you for contacting ProPet. Your cat should be okay even though you gave the second dose a few days early. You do not state how old your cat is but again she should be fine. Remember also to practice good hygene yourself. A human can contact these parasites as well and being that you are on the road and may not have the ability to stop and wash your hands easily after touching her you have to be careful yourself. The only thing you need to watch for is a potential for stomach upset, extreme diahrea or vomitting. I know you said you are a truck driver but as soon as you are able to you should definitely have her examined by the vet to make sure she is healthy.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Question
2 questions; 2 diff cats
1. Jade is my male tuxedo cat, he weighs about 20lbs give or take a lb or two. I gave the right amount of medicine according to directions. But lately he has been vomitting. (he also enjoys eating ANY kind of plastic wrapper-which causes him to vomit) but the vomit is firm w/no plastic in it. Did i give him too much medicine and do i need to get him to vet asap?

2. Posiedon is my little girl grey tabby cat. well she is only ten lbs and you can visually see that she has worms(really dont see any on jade or in his stool but cats live together sharrin things both need treated) well with her though it seems to be a much serious case; they'll get stuck to her tail and such. i clean areas she sleeps, wash my hands more, etc. Even after the second dose i see worms, do i continue the dosage until i one day hopfully dont see them or...? thank you so much.

Thank you for contacting ProPet. You should always make sure your pet has eaten before administering the medication to help ensure them not to get an upset stomach. Regarding Jade, his dosage should have been 2 teaspoons on day 1 and then 2 teaspoons again on the 10th day. You didn't specify how much you gave him but if you gave him more than that he could be vomitting from a potential overdose.

Regarding Posiedon, she should have received 1 teaspoon on day 1 and another teaspoon on day 10. On both pets this should kill the roundworms. You didn't mention what the worms looked like. Are they long and spaghetti like or short and segmented like rice? If they are long than they are roundworms and if they do not go away with the first dose you need to repeat again after 30 days. If, however, they are short and segmented those are tape worms in which this medication will not work and you will need to have them both treated at your veterinarian.

Thank you for contacting ProPet. When you deworm your cats you give them the appropriate dose and then 10 days later you give them a second dose. Then you follow up with another dose after 30 days. You do not specify what the worms look like. If they are short and segmented like pieces of rice those are tapeworms and unfortunately the roundworm medication will not kill them. If they are long and string like resembling spaghetti those are round worms and sometimes it takes a few doses for all the worms to be destroyed. Please remember to practice good hygiene as these can be contracted by humans as well. If your cat does in fact have tapeworms you will need to contact your vet to obtain the proper deworming medication.

Thank you for contacting ProPet. The way to administer this product is by giving the initial dose to your pet and then 10 days later you administer it again. You may or may not see worms coming out in the stool. You did not specify what the worms look like. If they are long and look like a piece of spaghetti than those are roundworms and this medicine should be effective. If they are short and segmented like a piece of rice then those are tape worms caused by fleas and this medicine will not work and you will need a prescription dewormer from your veterinarian.

Thank you for contacting Propet. Actually either is correct. We originally put 10 days for second dosing on our bottles and then changed to 14 days to make it easier for the consumer. If you pet had a bad infestation, repeat the dose at 10 days.

Question
Another round of De-Wormer
I gave my cat who weighs over 5 lbs a dose of the Roundworm liquid De-Wormer on December 23, 2010 and gave him the 2nd dose 14 days later on January 6, 2011. I see that he still still has the roundworms, I know these are roundworms and not tapeworms so my question is do I need to do another dose on the January 20th, 2011 which would be 14 days from the last dose and then another dose after that making a 2 week treatment again?

Dear Ashbee,

If you've given your cat 2 doses off our Liquid Wormer and you are still seeing evidence of worms, it may in fact be either Whipworms or Hookworms and these would need to be attended to by your vet so we would suggest contacting your vet for a stool analysis.
