Thank you for contacting ProPet. We are sorry that your pet is going through a rough time with her scratching. The hydrocortisone spray is a good product however, it is only meant to offer temporary relief. If you pet has an underlying condition the product is not going to offer a cure. We recommend contacting your Veterinarian to find out what is causing the itching whether it be a dermatitis of some sort or an allergy.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Question
Safety concerns about Antiseptic Medicated Spray
I bought this from Wal Mart because my little dog is allergic to fleas and if there's a gap in giving him his flea medication, he chews and scratches until he has nasty sores. The spray does seem to be helping to ease this situation BUT it contains Fragrance (usually contain phthalates): highly toxic; can affect central nervous system (Environmental Health Network; FDA Office of cosmetics Fact Sheet), and Propylene glycol: can cause brain, liver and kidney abnormalities (Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry). I love him dearly and don't want to inadvertently poison him. Can you give me more solid facts regarding this product?

Thank you for contacting ProPet. The product in question does not contain phthalates.

Some studies have linked propylene glycol to the conditions mentioned below, but these conditions usually arise following prolonged exposure to high concentrations of the chemical. The propylene glycol is in this product at an extremely low concentration.

We can assure you we would not put out a product that would be toxic to your pet in any way.

Question
Tasha scratches and licks her legs and belly all the time.
First noticed both cat and dog had some fleas about 2 months ago, started using the flea shampoo baths, spray sleeping areas, shampoo carpets and seemed to get rid of them, but now both the cat and dog have experienced hair loss, and constant scratching and licking. I have used the Antiseptic Spray and Brewer's Yeast, plus Benedryl pills for the dog, She has a terrible odor when she scratches, seems like the oatmeal shampoos are not working either, as well as medicated shampoo for dogs. What can I do now, I do not have the money to take her to the vet due to my own expensive medical treatments.

Thank you for contacting ProPet. If your pet had gotten bitten by even just one flea she could potentially have a flea dermititis which is an allergic reaction to the flea bite. Even though the products you are using may temporarily help relieve itching and scratching unfortunately they are not going to help the underlying cause. I understand veterinarian care is costly however I recommend taking her even to a low cost type vet clinic as she may now have an infection from biting and scratching (hence the odor) and will need a skin antibiotic and possibly a steroid shot to relieve the itching and inflamation.

Thank you for contacting ProPet. You can use this spray as often as needed however I would limit it to know more than 3 times a day as it has a drying out agent and you dont want to risk drying out the skin.

Thank you for contacting Propet. Yes you can certainly use the Antiseptic Spray however it doesnt contain the same healing properties that the hot spot spray or the hydrocortisone spray does. You should really try either one of those as those will soothe, stop the itching and heal at the same time.

Question
is it safe to spray this product near my dogs eye?
My dog was in a dog fight yesterday. The other dog bit him very close to his right eye. There is two cuts above his eye. I clean the wounds with a damp papertowel and warm water. Is it safe to spray this product near his eye if I cover his eye while I spray it?

Thank you for contacting Propet. It is best that you put this on a QTip or cotton ball to apply it do not spray it. If it gets into your pets eye it will burn him badly.
